Geology Rocks!

Our last day of school before spring break included a buddy presentation. The primary classrooms were invited to enjoy the Columbia River Gorge-adapted play Geology Rocks, performed by our buddies. Our class performed three poems from Earthshake: Poems from the Ground Up by Lisa Westberg Peters. Together we sang the song "Rock Cycle". Students did a great job!

Student made backdrops!

Enjoy your Spring Break! See you Tuesday, March 29th.

*apologies for not getting any pictures of our poets! I was too busy "directing".

The kids of Corbett Grade School are about to dig into something exciting! This spring, Corbett students will be creating their very own Outdoor Classroom and Native Habitat in the shady upland behind the baseball diamond. The Outdoor Classroom and Native Habitat will include trails, native plants, and bench seating for an entire class! Corbett students will take the reigns in making this new space but before the kids get started, we'll be hosting a Saturday Work Party in order to get some of the heavy-duty work done. We'll need adults to help dig post holes and install benches, operate a sod-remover, lay weed fabric, and haul - with truck or tractor - piles of barkchips to the project site. The Work Party will be held April 2nd from 10:00 - 2:00. We'll be working in shifts, so if you plan to help, email dhanes@corbett.k12.or.us and sign up for your duties and shift! Hope to see you there!

Important Mail

Hi families! You'll find your child's progress note tucked into their backpack Monday afternoon.

Looking forward to our last week together before Spring Break (March 21-24). We'll continue our study of rocks and earth material, and even be celebrating with our buddy class as they perform a play for us entitled Geology Rocks. In turn, we'll be performing our geology poems from Earthshake: Poems from the Ground Up by Lisa Westberg Peters.

Wednesday marks the 100th day of school. We'll celebrate with math activities and a primary wing parade through the school.

Finally, note your child's sharing day for this week!
