Pumpkin Math

Ms. Tucker's math group spent the week immersed in "pumpkin math". We estimated the weight of our pumpkins, the circumference and the number of seeds each would have. We were all surprised to find that our smaller pumpkin had 174 more seeds than the pumpkin twice its size!

Here are some photos of our messiest day, where everyone was assigned a task: scoopers, sorters and counters. Quite the task, but we managed to count all 814 seeds! We'll also get to taste them roasted and even watch our pumpkins decompose over the next several months.

Sticky, gooey goodness!

Counting slimy seeds turned out to be quite the challenge

Our brave scoopers

Sorting seeds into piles of 10. Good strategy counters!
