Mural Art, Day #1

Today we had our first of four lessons on how to draw and paint salamanders and snakes of the Columbia River Gorge with our fantastic art volunteer Holly McCowen! We started by finding everyday shapes in what we see around us, starting with triangles in trees, hills and mountains, circles in clouds, etc.

Next we looked at our subject matter: snakes and salamanders! We saw a triangle head and mouth, crescent teeth, circular eyes and a "long squiggly line" for a body. Our rough drafts are done and tomorrow we will work to transfer our art to a tile for painting.

Thank you Lucy M and Sadie's moms for all of your help!
